But overall it would be totally blown out of the water by a decent modern Chinese student sax such as a Bauhaus Walstein, Conn-Selmer Prelude or low end Elkhart or Jupiter. I haven't measured it using my micrometer, but the brass feels considerably thinner and flimsier than on my vintage Bueschers. Even after a good set up, it's not slick under the fingers. Mine has had the pads replaced and lots of the springs as well. As supplied the pads were lousy and the springs pretty poor. The build quality is poor, and the keywork is pretty crude. I hardly play the Buescher now, although by coincidence I gave it a blow a week or so ago.Īs a long tem owner of one of these saxes, I can honestly say that they are really not very good. For years, I couldn't afford to upgrade it, but after years of hard work I got to the point of being able to choose a better horn, and now I play a Yanagisawa T992.
I've kept the sax out of, frankly, sentimental reasons. It was my first sax, bought for me by my generous parents when I was 15.
